Course Objectives
Learn & Practice Hands-on Skills to apply ConnectTherapy to the Foot/Ankle Complex:
- the ConnectTherapy & Thoracic Ring Approach™ simple clinical tool used to assess the Net Centre of Mass (COM) over Base of Support (BOS) and the change in Net COM/BOS during functional tasks – key to understand how your patient interacts with gravity and the loads imparted to the foot/ankle complex
- this will include the basics in Thoracic Ring palpation from Dr. Lee’s Thoracic Ring Approach
- orientation to surface anatomy & accurate palpation of the Foot/Ankle complex in standing and functional tasks and the clinical reasoning process to identify pain generators vs. referred pain
- training visual acuity for assessing patterns of movement of the bones of the foot/ankle and seeing changes in the foot/ankle accurately
- manual clinical tests to temporarily optimize function of the Foot/Ankle complex in order to determine if the Foot/Ankle is the Primary Driver, or underlying cause, for your patient’s symptoms anywhere in the body
- use of the ConnectTherapy Drivers Diagnostics Chart™ (DDC) to understand the connections between dysfunction and pain in the rest of the body to function of the Foot/Ankle in individual patients
- practice Dr LJ Lee’s innovative Compression Vector Analysis & Release techniques to identify which tissues – muscles, fascia, joints – need release to optimize function and mechanics of the Foot/Ankle complex. These techniques make your treatment time more efficient as you will learn how to identify which tissue dysfunctions are the underlying impairment for the Foot/Ankle, and which tissue dysfunctions are compensatory and therefore non-relevant to treat
- the exercise progressions to train optimal loading of the foot/ankle complex for everyday tasks and progress to higher loads and speed – learn the 3 Phases of the ConnectTherapy exercise prescription and how to integrate all your current tools into a more efficient and effective framework.
Course participants have been amazed at how much change they can make to what seemed to be “structural” issues in their patients’ feet – you will be too!
