Dr. Soundus 'Sue' Machtley

Physiotherapist / Physical Therapist, Registered Massage Therapist

Biography

Sue is a board-certified Orthopedic Specialist and Certified Manual Physical Therapist who has worked in the field of physical therapy since 2002. She earned her doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine with high honors. In 2008, she earned her Manual Therapy Certification (MTC), a prestigious achievement earned by fewer than 2000 Physical Therapists worldwide! While many therapists have exposure to manual therapy, few have taken the comprehensive amount of advanced coursework and demonstrated the expertise required to become certified. In 2010, Sue began working towards her Orthopedic Specialist Certification. She was officially certified by the American Physical Therapy Association as an Orthopedic Specialist in June 2011.

Education is something highly valued by Sue. She was a teacher following her undergraduate coursework at the University of Southern California. She currently teaches continuing education to health care professionals throughout the country and serves as adjunct faculty at the Seattle Institute for Oriental Medicine.
While she has received advanced training in spine rehabilitation, she enjoys treating all areas of orthopedics. Sue also has a strong interest in movement re-education and injury prevention. Through a thorough pre-screening process, Sue is able to identify movements that may be setting one up for injury. By performing specific neuromuscular re-education movements to re-train the body's movement and improve motor control, injury can be prevented. Further, output and performance can be optimized.
