Rachel Nicol

Biography
,I have worked as an NHS Physiotherapist since qualifying in 1982, specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy in 1986.
I have worked at Nottingham University Hospital Trust since 1993. working in Rheumatology from 1995 to 2013 I gained experience in the management of hypermobility and fibromyalgia. Over the last few years I have worked for the Pain Management service specialising in the management of complex musculoskeletal pain
I am committed to combining knowledge of pain science and the use of clinical reasoning and manual therapy skills to provide an effective holistic service for patients with ongoing musculoskeletal pain
After achieving a Post Graduate Diploma in Manual therapy from Nottingham University in 2013 I went on to join the MACP and to mentoring Masters Manual therapy students.
So far in addition to completing the series in 2016, part 4 in May 2017 and April 2018, I have taken 4 day workshops to improve my skills in managing thoracic,, shoulder and pelvis cervical spine drivers.
I have enjoyed sharing skills and knowledge from the Connect Therapy training with my NHS colleagues and patients. Having experienced how effective and efficient this approach has been with some of my patients, I am keen to develop my ability to use this approach to enable me to empower more of my patients to manage and progress their own rehabilitation ultimately becoming their own physio!
