Reason for Being
The demand from Series Graduates for more structured mentorship and professional development is at the root of LJ’s Certification Program. As CCO (Chief Curriculum Officer) LJ has developed an extensive curriculum, to enable motivated clinicians to engage in advanced training—affording them the ability to deliver the ConnectTherapy and Thoracic Ring Approach models — with a higher degree of confidence and expertise. As well, the opportunity exists to apply to participate in further training to support and teach other clinicians these approaches.
Who says Certification Programs have to be rigid?
One of the most attractive features of LJ’s Certification Program is its flexibility. This is to say, as a Program it offers students the opportunity to do as much, or as little, as they wish. What do we mean by this?
The entry point of the process is Practitioner Certification. Practitioner Certification is structured around mentorship in small group settings, where the student to instructor ratio is low—focusing on practical application of skills, clinical case studies, treatment progressions, assessment and treatment in the clinical setting and intensive feedback and hands-on skills. Upon becoming a Certified Practitioner, application can then be made to engage in additional training.
Once certified, Practitioners may choose to pursue different pathways and create their own Program. For example, Certified Mentors are trained to provide skills development and mentoring in small group and patient consultation settings for therapists taking the ConnectTherapy Series and starting Practitioner Certification. Certified Assistants provide high-level support on ConnectTherapy and Thoracic Ring Approach courses. Assistants can also apply to participate in Short Course Instructor and Faculty training, where they will be trained to teach and deliver high quality ConnectTherapy courses around the world.
Becoming a Certified Practitioner will also allow you to distinguish yourself in a business context—offering you a distinct marketing benefit. With Certification comes the use of the Dr. LJ Lee Certified Trust Mark, which may be used on your website, letterhead, in-clinic and on a host of your communication materials. This Trust Mark tells the public that you have achieved a specific level of clinical expertise in the ConnectTherapy and Thoracic Ring Approach models.
Your profile will grow as consumer demand grows for these models. As well, you become part of a select group and gain access to a global support network of ConnectTherapy Practitioners and resources. Your ConnectTherapy Practitioner Certification designation will also be listed with your profile on the LJLI Find a Physio Directory.
Put Your Name Forward
Application to Certification is based on successfully completing a series of progressive courses—each building on the next. After graduating from the 3-Part ConnectTherapy Series, students must then complete the mandatory Series Part 4 requirement. Physiotherapists who have completed all 3 Parts of the Discover Physio Series and have been trained in the ISM (Integrated Systems Model for Disability and Pain, (Lee & Lee) are also eligible to take Part 4 of the ConnectTherapy Series, thereby qualifying them to apply to Certification. Once these prerequisites have been satisfied, students can then apply to attend Linda-Joy Lee University (LJLU), where the coursework and examination process to become a Certified Practitioner occurs.
